For Christmas 2019, Hudson News sought to activate the center post-security entry concourse of the international terminal at JFK Airport, to give foreign flyers arriving or departing a last minute opportunity to acquire gifts and souvenirs in a convenient location. Knowing ahead of time that this was going to be a temporary space for the holidays, Hudson and OPTO brainstormed the perfect solution – a modular pop-up structure with all the built-in flexibility and modularity of OPTO’s more permanent collections, but with the expectation that the structure would be broken down and moved hassle-free after the holidays. The pop-up shop was an amazing financial success for Hudson, and was a groundbreaking retail solution that all airport concessionaires can leverage for underutilized concourse center areas in other airports domestically.
